Day 1 – Sunday, November 27, 2022
Depart on your flight from Newark to Warsaw, Poland
Day 2 - Monday, November 28, 2022 - Warsaw Arrival
Today we arrive at Warsaw airport, where you will be welcomed by our tour escort and bus driver. Check–into and dinner at the hotel.
Day 3 – Tuesday, November 29, 2022 - Warsaw – Czestochowa - Krakow
After breakfast, we departure Warsaw to Czestochowa. Upon our arrival, we celebrate Mass at one of the chapel’s at Jasna Gora Monastery. After Mass, we enjoy a guided tour of Jasna Gora Monastery, where we will see the Treasury, the Knight’s Hall, the Refectory, the Basilica of the Holy Cross and the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The highlight of our visit will be a viewing of the famous icon of the Black Madonna to which miraculous powers are attributed. We have time for lunch and then depart for Krakow. (B, D)
Day 4 – Wednesday, November 30, 2022 - Krakow
We begin our morning tour in the footsteps of St. John Paul II with mass. Visit the Wawel Hill, the Royal Castle and Wawel Cathedral. Continue to Krakow’s Old Town, and still through Kanonicza Street where Pope John Paul II (Karol Wojtyla) resided while living in Krakow. Then to the Mariacki Church and then go to the main Market Square with the Town Hall Tower and the Cloth Hall. We will have time to explore Old Town on your own before our folklore show and dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel in Krakow. (B, D)
Day 5 – Thursday, December 1, 2022 - Krakow – Auschwitz – Wadowice - Krakow
This morning, we visit Auschwitz, the Nazi concentration Camp of Auschwitz where St. Teresa Benedicta (Edith Stein) faced martyrdom and St. Maximilian Kolbe died in the Death Block from starvation after volunteering his life for that of a fellow prisoner in 1941. After lunch, we continue on to Wadowice, the small Polish town where St. Pope John Paul II was born in 1920 as Karol Wojtyla. We will visit Pope John Paul II’s childhood home, now a museum containing relics and artifacts from throughout his life and also St Peter Church, which was built in honor of the Holy Father’s survival of an assassination attempt. We will celebrate mass at one of the local shrines. We will return to Krakow for dinner and overnight at our hotel. (B, D)
Day 6 – Friday, December 2, 2022 - Krakow - Lagiewniki - Krakow
Today we visit Shrine of Divine Mercy, consecrated by Pope St. John Paul II. Here, the message Diving Mercy was passed on to St. Faustina. We will see the convent chapel and the tomb of St. Faustina. This afternoon we tour the Pope St. John Paul II ‘Have No Fear’ Center. In the center of the shrine is simple marble altar that contains a phial with a relic of his blood. The blood- stained cassock that he wore on the day of the attempted assassination is also on display here. This is our final night in Krakow and the rest of the day is to explore on your own and try one of the many wonderful restaurants in Krakow. Overnight at the hotel in Krakow. (B)
Day 7 – Saturday, December 3, 2022 - Krakow - Prague
This morning we check out of our hotel and after breakfast we begin our days journey with a visit Europe’s oldest salt mine which has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Here we will celebrate mass at the St. Kinga Chapel within the mine. After our tour, we continue our journey to the Czech Republic. We will have lunch en route and arrive in the capital city of Prague for dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B, D)
Day 8 – Sunday, December 4, 2022 - Prague
After breakfast, we have a full day of sightseeing in Prague focusing on Hardacany district. There we will visit, St. Vitus Basilica - housing the tomb of St John of Nepomuk, the Royal Castle, St. George Basilica, St. Nicolas and later the Church of Our Lady Victorious, where we see the Statue of Infant Jesus of Prague and celebrate mass. After lunch we will walk across Charles Bridge visiting the Old Town, the market square, the renowned Astronomical clock, Church of Our Lady and St. Wenceslas Square. Dinner tonight will be at the hotel in Prague (B, D)
Day 9 – Monday, December 5, 2022 - Prague – Svata Hora - Prague
Today we have an excursion to the sanctuary of Premonstratensain Strahov Monastery, founded in 1149, is one of the most important places of pilgrimage in Central Europe. There are thousands of pilgrims coming here every year to venerate the Mother of God - the most precious local gem, which, according to legend, was carved from pear wood by Archbishop Arnost of Pardubice himself one of the foremost councillors in the court of Emperor Charles IV. This monastery also houses the relics of St. Norbert, founder of the Order. After lunch, for those interested, venture to the Pilsner Urqell brewery, one of the most famous breweries in the world. It’s a massive beer producing complex that is spread out over 128 acres of land. During the two-hour tour you will learn about the history of the pale lager variety of beer known as pilsner, which was named after the city itself. You will get a first-hand look at how the beer is brewed, whatingredients go into making it, and the technique for producing it that hasn’t changed since the company was founded. Before dinner, there will be leisure time for last minute shopping and continued sightseeing. This evening we will conclude our time together with a folklore show and dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel in Prague. (B, FD).
Day 10 – Tuesday, December 6, 2022 - Prague departure
After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and transfer to PragueAirport to take departure flight back home to the USA. (B)
